Mother nature has created each one of us differently, with our own perfections or imperfections. However, it has also provided us the intelligence to create technologies that can overcome these flaws with ease, whether it is dental or systemic care.

The dental procedures that were traditionally done with merely scalpel, bur and sutures earlier, are now done with new technologies that have revolutionized dental treatments – be it teeth whitening, periodontitis, dental implants, smile designing or any other.

Taking a patient-centric approach, our state-of-the-art dental center in Langley BC is equipped with the latest dental technologies to ensure that each patient’s appointment is fast, effective and pain-free.

Some of the technologies that are used at Langley Dental Centre in Langley BC include:

These X-rays are faster, accurate and safe because it offers 1/6th less radiation (less harmful) than traditional X-rays. The X-ray image appears on the computer in seconds and allows your dentist to zoom into the image for better assessment of the dental condition or the oral health of patients.

Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information and store patient images, while enabling quick and easy transfer of images to specialists or insurance companies.

Langley Dental Centre utilizes intra-oral camera (just a few mm long) that aids in accurate diagnosis and less chair time for the patient. An intra-oral camera is a very small camera that provides precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums. The images are clear, defined and enlarged as compared to standard mirror examinations.

Another advantage of Intra-oral camera is that it helps us save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of your treatments. You can take printed images of them and share it with specialists, your lab or insurance companies.

Our in-office CT (computed tomography) scan, also called a CAT (computerized axial tomography) scan, is used as a diagnostic aid to obtain three-dimensional images of your teeth, jaws, facial skeleton as well as other vital structures of the head and neck region in extreme detail. CBCT improves diagnosis and treatment planning and thereby benefiting patients greatly.
Used in orthodontic and children dentistry: It helps Orthodontists and Pediatric dentists to examine the growth stages of skeletal structures and development of teeth using CBCT technology, besides diagnosis and interceptive treatment strategy planning for the best outcome.

Used in cosmetic and tooth replacement treatments : Cosmetic dentists and prosthodontists (tooth replacement specialists) use CBCT technology for analyzing and rebuilding teeth and bites with crowns, implants by precisely imaging the teeth, the bite and Temporo-Mandibular Joints (TMJ).

Used in Wisdom Tooth Extraction and Dental Implants: Oral surgeons use CAT SCAN to find radiological evidence of disease, determine fractures, look for impacted or missing teeth when planning for wisdom teeth extractions or dental implants. It helps to precisely see the proximity of the surgical site to nerves and sinuses from a 3D CBCT scan.

Used in Root Canals: Endodontists (root canal specialists) use CBCT scans to visualize the root canals (less than a millimeter in width), diagnose and treat abscessed teeth and identify tiny accessory canals that are not visible on conventional x-rays.

Used in Gum Diseases: Periodontists (gum specialists) use CBCT to assess bone loss or gum diseases in greater detail to make more precise diagnoses.

Langley Dental Centre uses lasers to improve efficiency and eliminate discomfort in many dental procedures, such as periodontal diseases, reducing tooth sensitivity, treatment of ulcers, teeth whitening, dental implants etc. Laser dentistry is preferred in soft tissue procedures for faster healing, accurate and painless treatments and to reduce complications.
Benefits of Laser Therapy:
Some major benefits associated with laser dentistry include:

  • Faster Healing
  • Shorter procedure time
  • Higher precision and accuracy
  • Reduced pain, bleeding or discomfort
  • Less invasive
  • Stitches are usually not required
  • Suitable for medically compromised patients
  • Recurrence of infections reduced
  • Safety and comfort for children and adults

CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) technology and metal-free materials are used by our dentists to provide patients with milled ceramic crowns, bridges, veneers, onlays and inlays.  Dental CAD/CAM technology is also used to fabricate abutments in dental implants that are used to replace missing teeth.

Today’s CAD/CAM enables restorations that fit better, are comfortable, more durable and more natural looking (multi-colored and translucent, similar to natural teeth) than previous restorations from machines.

Langley Dental Centre ensures that our patients receive safe, comfortable and anxiety-free dental care through sedation dentistry. Sedation is used to provide a relaxing and anxiety-free experience for people with dental phobia who refrain from visiting a dentist office, even when it is needed most.

Our experienced and certified dentists follow specific protocols and use our modern medical equipment to continuously monitor the patient’s blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rates to ensure patient comfort during the procedure. The sedation may last from two to six hours depending on the condition of your teeth. At Langley Dental Centre we use IV sedation and oral sedation methods.

IV Sedation (Intravenous Sedation), is a popular option,  also called conscious sedation where the medication is administered intravenously to induce a state of deep relaxation, perceived to be quite pleasant. You will be conscious to respond to the dentist’s commands. A small plastic catheter is introduced into a vein in your arm or hand, similar to having a blood test. You will be carefully monitored throughout the sedation. A local anesthesia is also used, thereby eliminating any discomfort during the procedure. The drugs used for IV sedation can produce either partial or full memory loss of the dental procedure, for the duration of time that it is used.

Oral Sedation – is also a form of conscious sedation, which is administered in the form of pill. The level of anesthesia experienced by each patient is generally different due to body weight, genetics, and previous drug history. It creates a deep sense of relaxation with amnesic effect allowing a patient to receive proper dental treatment without anxiety or pain.
